Being considerate of others will take your children further in life than any college degree. ~Marian Wright Edelman
This week is Random Acts of Kindness Week, brought to us by the folks at the Random Acts of Kindess Foundation. I love this organization, for their simple and constant reminder to just “be nice”. It’s easier than being mean and kindness pays dividends for ourselves and the community at large.
A “take care of your own” mindset is so easy to fall into, especially when times are tough and life throws us a few curveballs. But let’s face it, every one of us would welcome a gesture of pure kindness, whether from someone we love or from a total stranger. Wouldn’t we?
Kindness is one of the few things in life that costs nothing, and is endless in supply. Kind of like love. Besides the obvious benefit of brightening someone else’s day, dishing out an unexpected gift of kindness will also make US feel good. What better lesson can we provide for our kids?
This week, take a few minutes to brainstorm how you might spread a little love around. Or visit this site for some great ideas.
